Before You Dig, Call J.U.L.I.E.

Before digging on your property or in the right-of-way out front, you want to know exactly where all underground utility lines are located. Gas and electric lines feed into every house and accidentally damaging or severing utility lines can result in service disruption and/or threat to life. So . . .

At least 48 hours before you or a hired contractor intend to dig on your property, call J.U.L.I.E. at 1-800-892-0123. The service is free and operates 24 hours, 7 days a week. Within two working days from your call, representatives from each member utility, (not JULIE employees), will come out and mark the approximate location of their buried lines using the following color code:

Yellow - Gas, oil or petroleum
Red - Electric
Orange - Telephone and Cable TV
Blue - Potable Water
Green - Sewer

An acronym for Joint Utility Location Information for Excavators, “she” knows where all gas, electric, telephone and cable television lines are buried. You can learn more from the website: www.julie1call.com or call (815) 741-5000 to request a homeowner brochure.
