You're Invited : Our Garage Door is Open

Our Highway Commissioner Peter Amarantos invites you and your family to come see up close how the Road District's modernized office and technology benefits the residents in Northfield Township.

• Children are always enthralled by trucks, so bring them and let them see what the view is like from the driver's seat of a snowplow truck, bobcat, backhoe, front-end loader or boom truck.
  
  
• For those really interested in the "nitty-gritty" we'll let you look, via televising, into the sewers (It's fascinating, really). As part of a five-year maintenance and management program, the storm sewer cleaning and televising helps anticipate structural trouble spots and fix them before they occurp.
  
  
• The DTN Weather System, which gives early warning of potential storms, will be on display. This computer service helps make sure that we are best able to prepare for the safety of area roads and bridges during inclement weather.
  
  
• There will be more, even information on planning a neighborhood block party. Please join us!.

Of course, there will be yummy treats available, including our Highway Commissioner's famous homemade biscotti and cookies (maybe we'll be lucky and he will make his tiramisu). We hope to see you there!

The Road District garage is located at 1928 Lehigh Road, Glenview, just north of Chestnut. Our neighbor, Standard Lumber, has graciously offered the use of their parking lot for the open house.
