Fireplace Safety

Creosote, which builds up on the inside surfaces of chimneys, is deposited by fireplace smoke. If not removed periodically, it could ignite and set fire to the roof.

Before you use your fireplace again, make certain that all of its systems are safe. This includes inspecting the chimney for creosote deposits left by previous years’ fires and thoroughly removing them.
